These prayers are based on scripture. They are original works (unless otherwise stated), and I believe that they are inspired by God.
There are different types of prayer, as described in the Bible. For me, these prayers are formal prayers, because they are written and they are worded with scripture. That makes these prayers very powerful.
However, the mere reciting of the prayers will not achieve anything. Jesus warned us against praying like the Pharisees with vain repetition of words. These prayers are not quick-fixes, they are not calling cards by which God is forced into action, and they do not give you power to command God.
The purpose of these prayers is to learn scripture, to apply scripture in prayer and to improve our prayer vocabulary. Sometimes we just don’t have the words to pray, and that is when prayers like these help. These prayers are not meant to replace anything, but rather to expand your arsenal of prayer.
When you do use these prayers, pray it from your heart, in willingness and submission to God. In the end, our prayers should be subject to God’s will and purpose, as Jesus demonstrated in Gethsemane: “nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt.”
